Anderson is a city in and the county seat of Madison County, Indiana, United States. [5] The population was 54,788 at the 2020 census. [4] It is named after Chief William Anderson. The city is the headquarters of the Church of God and its Anderson University. Highlights of the city include the historic Paramount Theatre and the Gruenewald House.
Anderson University was established in 1917 as the Anderson Bible Training School by the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) movement. [1] The school was a major step in the life of a fellowship of Christians that originated in 1881. [5]

Faith Assembly Church was a multi-church sect headquartered in Wilmot, Indiana, founded in 1973 by Rev. Hobart Freeman. The group had associated groups across Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, and Kentucky. They called their church building a "glory barn". During the 1980s they had 2,000 members.
