  2. Comcast Business Gateway to router - [H]ard|Forum

    hardforum.com/threads/comcast-business-gateway-to-router.1785528

At our small business we have a Comcast Business Gateway. It's an SMC. Behind the gateway, we have a small Cisco Business Router (RVS4000). 50.130.xx.xx is static. Alternatively, is it possible to setup the Gateway so that all requests basically go right through and ignore the Gateway's firewall and just use the Cisco Router?

I work on Comcast business networks frequently. So far 100% of the "business gateways" I've worked on have been set up incorrectly by the Comcast tech (or rather contractor) who installed it. They do not offer or allow a simple modem on their business accounts, so you're stuck with the POS business gateway.

I have a network connected to a Comcast business modem for internet connectivity. The internet access from my network will go down intermittently for a couple minutes at a time, about every 5-10 minutes. Specifically, what I mean by internet access is the ability to ping an outside IP (so DNS...

I've got a Comcast business connection with a static IP that I'm finally getting around to setting up. On my old connection, I used the modem as a gateway and set up port forwarding. There was only 1 static IP assigned. It was assigned to the modem. Everything worked, and the world was good. On...

  8. Setting up an FTP server with Xfinity - [H]ard|Forum

    44. So, I have confirmed with Comcast that they do not necessarily block any ports, specifically the ones related to FTP or HTTP. I have used the Win10 FTP server tool, FileZilla, and one other that I can't recall the name of. None allow access to the server in the basement. I am reasonably certain that my problem lies in getting the router ...

If you don't get full speed directly connected to the modems, call Xfinity Tech Support and have them look at your signal levels. I would have Xfinity verify both modems are being sent the proper config file for 1200 Mbps service too. I have the Performance Pro plan (300 Mbps) and rent a Cisco DPC3941T (XB3) gateway.

The general setup is as follows (actual VLANs and IPs are different, as usual): Site 1 has the fortinet firewall acting as the main in/out for internet traffic, which is then connected to a Layer 3 aruba switch, which is then connected to the internal L2 network of Site 1. Port 1 of the ciena goes into the WAN port of the firewall, set the WAN ...

  11. Comcast Gateway Router is slower than third party router.... why?

    hardforum.com/threads/comcast-gateway-router-is-slower-than-third-party-router...

Wired up, the Comcast modem through speedtest.net is actually faster on tests, by about 7-10 megabits. WI-FI, through speedtest.net, it's about the same. However, in real world applications, from browsing the internet to opening up Netflix, the default modem is relatively slower in both the wired and Wi-Fi departments, versus wiring up with the ...
