One of Glasgow and Scotland's most creative institutions, Glasgow Art Club was founded in 1867. Membership is open to ladies, gentlemen, students and corporate organisations. The Glasgow Society of Lady Artists was founded in 1882 by eight female students of the Glasgow School of Art with the aim of affording due recognition to women in the field of art. It has been described by Jude Burkhauser as "the first residential club in Scotland run by and for women". [1]

Macgregor travelled widely on the Continent 1886–90. A member of Glasgow Art Club, work by Macgregor was included in the club's Memorial Exhibition in April 1935, in memory of those of its members who had died since the First World War. [3] He lived his final years at Albyn Lodge in Bridge of Allan. [4] He died in Oban on 28 September 1923.
