The Connecticut Superior Court is the state trial court of general jurisdiction. It hears all matters other than those of original jurisdiction of the Probate Court, and hears appeals from the Probate Court. On July 20, 2020, Governor Ned Lamont announced the appointment of Suarez to the Connecticut Appellate Court to the seat being vacated by Judge Christine Keller who was elevated to the Connecticut Supreme Court. [1] He was sworn into office on August 12, 2020. [4]

He was appointed to the Superior Court by Governor Lowell P. Weicker Jr. in 1991. In his 20 years of service as a Superior Court judge, his assignments included terms in the Civil and Criminal Divisions of the Hartford, New Britain and Litchfield Superior Courts, as well as a four-year term pioneering the Complex Litigation Docket in Waterbury.
