1998 – Tusculum College (now Tusculum University) joined the SAC in the 1998–99 academic year. 2000 – Gardner–Webb left the SAC to join the NCAA Division I ranks as an NCAA D-I Independent (which would later join the Atlantic Sun Conference as a provisional member, beginning the 2002–03 school year) after the 1999–2000 academic year.
Thomas E. McCann (November 7, 1898 – March 23, 1975) was an American baseball player and coach of football and basketball. He served as the head football coach at Tusculum College in 1924 and at the University of Miami from 1931 to 1934. McCann was also the head basketball coach at Miami during the 1928–29 and 1931–32 seasons.
Dale Gibson is a former men's basketball coach at Liberty University (then called Lynchburg Baptist College). After leaving coaching, he served as a professor at Liberty where he started the school's Sport Management program. Currently he teaches at Tusculum College.
Theodore E. "Ty" Disney (April 13, 1908 – November 10, 1962) was an American football player and coach. He played halfback at the University of Tennessee. [1] He served as the head football coach at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee in 1937. [2]
