Captain Robert Laurence Nairac GC (31 August 1948 – 15 May 1977) was a British Army officer in the Grenadier Guards. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] He was abducted by Republicans from a pub in Dromintee , South Armagh , during an undercover operation he was undertaking and killed by the IRA .

Captain Robert Nairac was a British Army officer who was discovered and killed by the Provisional Irish Republican Army and posthumously awarded the George Cross. Nairac was linked to several atrocities during the conflict. [5] He visited The Three Steps Inn in Dromintee on 14 May 1977 and was approached outside the pub, abducted and killed.
