St Augustine College in Malta was established as a faith school for boys by the Order of Saint Augustine in 1848 by Gaetano Pace dei Baroni Forno. He founded it in Valletta next door to the church of St. Augustine. It has since been relocated to Pietà. Since then, the primary sector has opened up in Marsa. [2] [3] [4]
In its first years, both the academic and support staff were all MSSP members. Work on the present premises of the school started in 1974 and was completed in 1982 with the inauguration of St Agatha's Auditorium. It was completed when the college was the only non-fee-paying private school in Malta, and MSSP members had no fixed income.

Fr William Axiaq (1942–2010) was a Maltese Franciscan friar, educational psychologist, and preacher. Born in Żabbar on July 4, 1942, he received his early education at De La Salle College and the Seraphic School in Floriana. Joining the Capuchin Order in 1959, he took solemn vows in 1963 and was ordained a priest on March 30, 1968.
