Ekurhuleni is one of the five districts of Gauteng and one of the eight metropolitan municipalities of South Africa. The seat of Ekurhuleni is Germiston and the most spoken language is Zulu at 28.6%. The city is home to South Africa's busiest airport, OR Tambo International Airport, which is in the Kempton Park area of Ekurhuleni. [5]

Born on 2 September 1974, [1] Masina was born and raised on the East Rand in the Transvaal, an area that is now called Ekurhuleni. [2] His family were active in the anti-apartheid movement, [3] and he became politically active as a teenager, joining the African National Congress (ANC) and its Youth League. [4]
