The Eydam and Handel Company, or Adolph Eydam and Philip Handel Company, was formed in 1885, until partnership broke up in 1892 when Eydam moved to rival company of C. F. Monroe (Eydam returned in 1915 to head up decorating department).
The Lamplighter School [1] was founded in 1953 in a North Dallas farmhouse by Natalie Murray and Marieta "Sandy" Swain on what is now the Cooper Clinic campus. [2] In 1969, The Lamplighter School moved to 11611 Inwood Road.

Edward and Christine Craven-Walker licensed the product to a number of overseas markets whilst continuing to manufacture for the European market themselves under the original name of the company, Crestworth. The cartel took over market territories and lowered the useful life of such bulbs, which is commonly cited as an example of planned obsolescence .
