Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church is a Roman Catholic church located at 629 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. It is the oldest existing church in the city of Detroit, [ 2 ] and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1971.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. [1]
The St. Theresa of Avila Roman Catholic Parish Complex consists of the church, rectory, school, and convent. [2] All of the buildings are essentially Neo-Romanesque in character, and are constructed of dark red brick trimmed with Indiana limestone. The church is in the Italian Romanesque style, with Byzantine and Art Deco influences.
St. Patrick Parish began in 1862, in response to the influx of Irish Catholics into Detroit. [2] By 1880, St. Patrick had become one of Detroit's largest and wealthiest parishes, and in 1890 the parish name was changed to "Sts. Peter and Paul." [2] In 1892, to serve the children of the community, a school was built on Parsons. [2]
The Our Lady of the Rosary Church is a Roman Catholic church located at 5930 Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. It was originally built as St. Joseph's Episcopal Church – from 1893 to 1896 – and is a historic Romanesque Revival church complex. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 3, 1982. [1]
The First Congregational Church of Detroit was established on December 25, 1844. Two church buildings were built near the Detroit River. The third building was constructed at the present site in 1891, and was designed by architect John Lyman Faxon. An addition to the church, known as the Angel's Wing, was constructed in 1921 by Albert Kahn. [3]
At the time, St. Albertus was the largest Catholic church in Michigan, and was the first in the City of Detroit to feature steam heat and electrical lighting. [ 3 ] Unfortunately, Kolasinski was a very controversial priest, and in November 1885 the parish became factionalized which resulted in his suspension. [ 5 ]
