Ahsan Manzil (Bengali: আহসান মঞ্জিল) is a palace located in the Kumartoli area beside Buriganga River of Dhaka, Bangladesh. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] It was formerly the residence and seat of the Nawab of Dhaka and has been designated an Old Dhaka Heritage Site . [ 3 ]

Nawab Major Khwaja Hassan Askari (21 August 1921 – 9 August 1984) was the sixth and last Nawab of Dhaka. [1] [2] He was born at the Ahsan Manzil Palace in Dhaka.He was the eldest son of Nawab Habibullah Bahadur and Shahryar Begum (the granddaughter of Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah).

The history begins with Farashganj. In 1730 the French came to Dhaka to set up their businesses. They bought a house on the bank of the Buriganga from Jamindar Sheikh Mutiullah and made their Kuthi in the place currently known as Ahsan Manzil.
In 1959, Wasif Ali Mirza came to be the third nawab bahadur. [7] He was succeeded by Waris Ali Mirza who died in 1969, [ 1 ] survived by three sons and three daughters. His death was followed by a long-standing dispute over succession as he had excluded his eldest son, Wakif Ali Mirza, from the succession for contracting a non-Muslim marriage.
