German Village is a historic neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, just south of the city's downtown. It was settled in the early-to-mid-19th century by a large number of German immigrants , who at one time comprised as much as a third of the city's entire population.
The German Village Commission is a governmental organization appointed by the Mayor of Columbus, Ohio to "preserve, protect and enhance the unique architectural and historical features of the German Village Historic District." The commission has the power to approve architectural designs and exterior alterations.
