WVAZ (102.7 FM, "V103") is an urban adult contemporary radio station serving the Chicago metropolitan area and Northwest Indiana. Licensed to Oak Park, Illinois , WVAZ is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. , alongside sister stations WCHI-FM , WGCI-FM , WGRB , WKSC-FM , WLIT-FM and WVON .
The show began national syndication on January 11, 2008 from its flagship station WVAZ in Chicago, Illinois as The Ride with Doug and DeDe with DeDe McGuire being the original co-host. [1] A similar show, The Doug Banks Morning Show , aired on ABC Radio Networks for several years prior in the morning drive time slot.
Doug's next two stops were KDIA in Oakland, California, and WBMX (now WVAZ) in Chicago, Illinois. From 1986 to 1995, Banks did nights, mornings, and afternoons for WGCI-FM in Chicago. It was at WGCI where Doug became good friends with Tom Joyner and they became known as "Turntable Brothers".
In March 2009, it was announced that The Steve Harvey Morning Show would replace The Tom Joyner Morning Show in Chicago on WVAZ, which was Joyner's flagship station.
