The Sixth Form College was previously the 11–18 'High Pavement Grammar School', first established in 1788 as the 'Unitarian Day Charity School' behind the High Pavement Chapel on High Pavement, in the Lace Market area. From 1895 until 1955, the school was in Stanley Road in Forest Fields, then moving to the Bestwood Estate.
Manning Grammar School for Girls, was originally part of the High Pavement Grammar School until 1931, when it moved into new buildings on Gregory Boulevard. High Pavement had previously been coeducational from 1898. [2] It opened in April 1931. [3] It was evacuated with High Pavement to Mansfield in the war.

The school was to be an eight form comprehensive, although the councillors still mostly preferred and expected a technical grammar school, due to the town's textile industry. Quarrydale Comprehensive had opened, but the Sutton Urban councillors saw this type of school as more of an up-to-date secondary modern school with improved buildings.

In September 2018, the first Year 7's were admitted to the school. Year 10 admissions remained open until 2021, after which admissions only accepted eleventh and sixth form. [10] Applications for admission are made though the home education authority. The academy has an admissions number of 120. [11]
Bilborough Sixth Form College is a sixth-form college in Nottingham, England. The college has students from across the conurbation. A third of its students come from Nottingham, another third from the surrounding county of Nottinghamshire, and a final third from Derbyshire.
