Deicide is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida.Formed in 1987 by drummer/composer Steve Asheim and guitarist brothers Eric and Brian Hoffman as "Carnage", then hiring bassist/vocalist/lyricist Glen Benton and becoming "Amon".

It is the first album by the band to feature Jack Owen (formerly of Cannibal Corpse) and Ralph Santolla (formerly of Iced Earth) on guitars. In addition to his work with Deicide, Benton was also a of member of the band Vital Remains, occasionally recording and performing with the band.
