Champaign Community Unit School District No. 4 is a unit school district with over 10,000 students and 19 campuses covering Champaign and the villages of Bondville and Savoy in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. [1] It was formed in 1948 from thirteen school districts. [3]
Centennial High School is a public high school serving grades 9-12 in Champaign, Illinois. It is part of Champaign Unit 4 School District. As of the 2020–21 school year, it had 1,400 students. The school is located next to Jefferson Middle School and Centennial Park.
The present school site, 610 W. University Avenue, was donated by J.P. White to the public schools of Champaign in 1868 and has housed Central High School since 1956. During the 1963–64 school year, due to over-crowding approximately 300 students were assigned on a half-day basis to Jefferson Middle School.
The latter sum was part of a multiyear $5.4 million Carter grant to oversee after-school programs in Champaign schools. The district terminated them early because of concerns over their effectiveness.

Since its acquisition of the land, the park district exchanged 5 acres (2.0 ha) of Centennial Park to Champaign Unit 4 School District in return for the land of Morrisey Park. Currently, Champaign Centennial High School and Jefferson Middle School sit within the park. The campus was designed by Professor Karl Lohmann.
