[2] The team is a member of the Big West Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. Hawaii's first baseball team was fielded in 1923.
In 1983, the University of Hawaii appropriated the money to build a state-of-the-art on-campus baseball facility. The project took less than nine months to complete.
