Reid's funeral was held on Tuesday 14 August 2007 at Little Easton Parish Church, Essex, and was attended by over 250 people, including his former EastEnders co-stars Pam St Clement, Sid Owen, Michael Greco, June Brown, Barbara Windsor, Sophie Lawrence, Bobby Davro and other members of the EastEnders cast. Michael Stafford Baynes Reid (15 May 1943 – 13 January 2023) was an English Christian evangelist in Essex. Also known as Bishop Michael Reid, he was the founder of the Peniel Pentecostal Church (aka Michael Reid Ministries ), and ran high-profile advertisements in the press promoting the church.
From 1968, he was landlord of The Ship and Anchor in Maldon, Essex and The Lion in Latchingdon, Essex, and played Sunday league football with some of his customers. [2] In 1986, he emigrated to Port Elizabeth, South Africa. [6] Malcolm died at his home in Port Elizabeth on 26 December 2013. [11]
