Bloomfield Township is a charter township in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A northern suburb of Detroit, Bloomfield Township is located roughly 20 miles (32 km) northwest of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the township had a population of 44,253. [3] Established in 1827, it is the oldest township of Oakland County.
A post office was established in February 1826 with the name of Farmington. The original post office is still standing today, and is a designated historical site.
