The park is known for its very large red sandstone outcrops. Many of these rock formations within the park have names, from the mushroom-shaped Seat of Pluto to the inclined Cave of the Seven Ladders. State Highway 83 (SH 83) is a state highway that is located along the Front Range in the U.S. State of Colorado.Spanning about 56.2 miles (90.4 km) from the SH 21 (Powers Boulevard) interchange in northern Colorado Springs and SH 2 (Colorado Boulevard.) in Denver, the highway follows a south–north route, paralleling Interstate 25 to the east and serving rural areas.
