Pop-Up Dynamo! is the debut studio album by Swedish pop band PG Roxette, released on 19 October 2022 by Elevator Entertainment and Parlophone.The band was formed by Roxette songwriter Per Gessle following the death of vocalist Marie Fredriksson in 2019.
They briefly reunited to record two new songs for A Collection of Roxette Hits: Their 20 Greatest Songs! in 2006, before reforming in 2009 and embarking on "The Neverending World Tour". Fredriksson and Gessle collaborated on a new Roxette album throughout 1997 and 1998; Have a Nice Day was eventually released in February 1999. She was more involved in its composition and production than on previous Roxette releases, recording numerous demos at her Djursholm studio and singing lead vocals on ten of the album's fourteen songs.
Joyride is the third studio album by Swedish pop rock duo Roxette, released on 25 March 1991 by EMI as the follow-up to their international breakthrough Look Sharp! (1988), as well as the non-album single "It Must Have Been Love", from the soundtrack to Pretty Woman (1990). The album was recorded over an 11-month period in Sweden.
Roxette have sold an estimated 75-80 million records worldwide, [2] and had four number ones on the Billboard Hot 100. [3] Roxette's commercial breakthrough coincided with a period of solo inactivity for Gessle, eventually releasing his third solo album, The World According to Gessle , in 1997. [ 4 ]
Four songs were issued as singles prior to the release of the album. A cover version of the Beatles song "Help!" – originally recorded in 1995 at Abbey Road Studios – was issued as the lead single in May 2020. [8] This recording remained unreleased for several years before finally appearing on the 2006 box set The Rox Box/Roxette 86–06. [9]
