Turbo C is a discontinued integrated development environment (IDE) and compiler for the C programming language from Borland. First introduced in 1987, it was noted for its integrated development environment, small size, fast compile speed, comprehensive manuals and low price.
Turbo C++ 1.0, running on MS-DOS, was released in May 1990.An OS/2 version was produced as well. Version 1.01 was released on February 28, 1991, [1] running on MS-DOS. The latter was able to generate both COM and EXE programs and was shipped with Borland's Turbo Assembler for Intel x86 processors.
Borland C++ was a C and C++ IDE (integrated development environment) released by Borland for MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows. It was the successor to Turbo C++ and included a better debugger, the Turbo Debugger , which was written in protected mode DOS.
Frank Borland is a mascot character for Borland products. According to Philippe Kahn, the mascot first appeared in advertisements and the cover of Borland Sidekick 1.0 manual, [43] which was in 1984 during Borland International, Inc. era. It runs on and produces code for 16- or 32-bit x86 MS-DOS and compatibles for Microsoft Windows. It can be used with Borland's other language products: Turbo Pascal, Turbo Basic, Turbo C, and Turbo C++.
