Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, often called "Doof" for short, also known as Professor Time, is a fictional character from the American animated television series Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law. He was created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh , and is voiced by Povenmire.

The first season of Phineas and Ferb aired on the Disney Channel from August 17, 2007, to February 18, 2009. The five main characters include stepbrothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, their older sister Candace Flynn, secret agent Perry the Platypus (who is also Phineas and Ferb's pet), and the evil scientist Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.

As the two nemeses sit while drinking some hot cocoa, Doofenshmirtz tells Perry the story of his Victorian ancestor, Dr. Jekyll Doofenshmirtz, who attempted to impress an angry mob by transforming himself into a beast using a formula-making machine: the Concoction-inator, only to fail and become a fairy princess instead.
As a result, Perry's nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, comes out unharmed from the effects of the now-destroyed machine. Over time, everything is altered and the Tri-State Area becomes childproof for fear of a repeat of Phineas and Ferb's dangerous activities. Doofenshmirtz eventually gains the upper hand, effectively becoming the ruler.
