The Vision of Saint Thomas Aquinas, also known as the Mystical Vision or Ectasy of Saint Thomas Aquinas, is an altarpiece painted by the Florentine artist Santi di Tito in 1593 for the church of San Marco in Florence, Italy. The painting was commissioned by Sebastiano Pandolfini del Turco for his family chapel in San Marco. [1]

'Thomas of Aquino'; c. 1225 – 7 March 1274) was an Italian [6] Dominican friar and priest, the foremost Scholastic thinker, [7] as well as one of the most influential philosophers and theologians in the Western tradition. [8]
Aquinas further holds that "the habit of charity extends not only to the love of God, but also to the love of our neighbor". [ 2 ] The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines "charity" as "the theological virtue by which we love God above all things for His own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God".
A similar fresco from c.1438 of the Madonna and Child with St Dominic and St Peter Martyr by the same artist survives above the doorway of the church of San Domenico in Cortona, whilst the same artist's Crucifixion with Mourners and St Dominic (Louvre) originated at San Domenico in Fiesole. [2]
