This is a list of television channels that broadcast for a Romanian language audience. Typically, non-Romanian content is subtitled, but maintains the original language soundtrack. Non-Romanian programming intended for children, is however, usually dubbed into Romanian.
Romanian market is dominated by two large groups: Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. and Intact Media Group, with PRO TV and Antena 1 as main channels and Kanal D also gain audience starting 2014 as the third channel. There are over 50 channels running ads, as of 2015 television being the best type of advertising in Romania.
On 4 January 2008, the channel started broadcasting 24 hours a day in Romania. [11] Initially only TV provider Dolce offered the 24h feed. A CEE feed specifically for Romania and Hungary was launched, replacing Cartoon Network Poland on 1 October 2009. On 1 April 2015, the channel started broadcasting 24 hours a day in Hungary.
