Topsail Island (/ ˈ t ɑː p s ɪ l /, TOP-sill) is a 26-mile (41.8 km) long barrier island off the coast of North Carolina, roughly equidistant between the barrier islands of the Crystal Coast and the beaches of the Cape Fear region, lying south of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Camp Lejeune.
Stede Bonnet was born in 1688, [2] and he was christened at Christ Church parish on 29 July 1688. [3] His parents, Edward and Sarah Bonnet, owned an estate of over 400 acres (160 ha) southeast of Bridgetown, Barbados, [4] which was bequeathed to Bonnet upon his father's death in 1694.

Fighter Squadron 61 (VF-61), the Jolly Rogers, was a fighter squadron of the United States Navy. Originally established as VF-17 on 1 January 1943, it was redesignated as VF-5B on 15 November 1946, and then later as VF-61 on 28 July 1948. It was disestablished on 15 April 1959. It was the first navy squadron to be designated VF-17. [1]
