Moby Arena is an 8,083-seat basketball arena on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.The arena, officially known as the Colorado State Auditorium-Gymnasium, was opened on January 24, 1966, with a victory over New Mexico State. [1]
Owned and operated by Colorado State University, it stood on a 161-acre (65 ha) site near Horsetooth Reservoir, about four miles (6 km) west of the school's main campus. The stadium opened in 1968 as the replacement for the old Colorado Field, a 14,000-seat on-campus stadium that is now the site of the "Jack Christiansen Track." [6] [7]
In 1978, the Colorado Commission on Higher Education designated USC as a polytechnic institution. In 1985, USC was integrated into the newly created Colorado State University System (CSU System) with Colorado State University, Colorado's land-grant university, and Fort Lewis College. In 2002, Fort Lewis College chose to be a separate entity.
