Mont-Saint-Bruno Provincial Park (French: Parc Provincial du Mont-Saint-Bruno, pronounced [paʁk pʁɔvɛ̃sjal dy mɔ̃ sɛ̃ bʁyno]) is a small national park of Quebec located near the municipality of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) to the east of Montréal on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River.
Mont Saint-Bruno might be the deep extension of a vastly eroded ancient volcanic complex, which was probably active about 125 million years ago. [3] The mountain was created when the North American Plate moved westward over the New England hotspot , [ 3 ] along with the other mountains of the Monteregian Hills .
Equinox Mountain is the highest peak of the Taconic Range and the second-highest point in southern Vermont, after Stratton Mountain.It rises nearly 3,000 feet (914 meters) above its eastern footings in Manchester, giving Equinox the third-greatest topographic prominence among the state's mountains (after Mansfield and Killington).
The mountain was named by Bruno de Heceta to honor his patron saint, [46] and Sierra de San Bruno appears on the land-map of Rancho Cañada de Guadalupe drawn by Jean Jacques Vioget (presently in the collections of the Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley) some time in the 1840s. The park is dominated by San Bruno Mountain which is a 4 miles (6.4 km) ridge.
