Iftikhar Hussain Arif [a] (born 21 March 1944) is a Pakistani poet and litterateur of Urdu.His main theme is romantic Urdu poetry and he has headed the Pakistan Academy of Letters and the National Language Authority.
Nawab Mirza Khan Daagh Dehlvi (Urdu: نواب مرزا خان داغ دہلوی, 25 May 1831 – 17 March 1905) was a poet known for his Urdu ghazals. He belonged to the old Delhi school of Urdu poetry. [2] [3] [4] He wrote romantic and sensuous poems and ghazals in simple and chaste Urdu, minimising usage of Persian words.
Akhtar was innovative and introduced new trends in Urdu poetry. At a very young age, he wrote philosophical and inspiring poems. He was called شاعرِ رومان (the poet of romance). [3] His best-known collections of poetry include Akhtaristan, Nigarshat-e-Akhtar, Lala-e-toor, Tayyur-e-Aawara, Naghma-e-Haram, Subh-e bahaar, and Shahnaz.
Asrar-ul-Haq (19 October 1911 to 5 December 1955), better known as Majaz Lakhnawi, was an Indian Urdu poet. He is known for his romantic and revolutionary poetry. He composed ghazals and nazms in Urdu. He was the maternal uncle of poet and screenplay writer Javed Akhtar and Indian-American psychoanalyst Salman Akhtar. [1]
