IEEE 1394 is an interface standard for a serial bus for high-speed communications and isochronous real-time data transfer. It was developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s by Apple in cooperation with a number of companies, primarily Sony and Panasonic.
RS-485 is a multiple-access bus on which only one device can transmit at a time, a concept that is not provided for in RS-232. The RS-232 device asserts RTS to tell the converter to take control of the RS-485 bus so that the converter, and thus the RS-232 device, can send data onto the bus.
The coupling transformer has to have a turns ratio of 1:1.41 ± 3.0 percent. The resistors R both have to have a value of 0.75 Zo ± 2.0 percent, where Zo is the characteristic impedance of the bus at 1 MHz. Figure 10: Data bus interface using direct coupling
RS-485 is also used in building automation as the simple bus wiring and long cable length is ideal for joining remote devices. It may be used to control video surveillance systems or to interconnect security control panels and devices such as access control card readers. It is also used in Digital Command Control (DCC) for model railways.
High-speed devices must also be capable of falling-back to full-speed as well, making high-speed devices backward compatible with USB 1.1 hosts. Connectors are identical for USB 2.0 and USB 1.x. SuperSpeed (SS) rate of 5.0 Gbit/s. The written USB 3.0 specification was released by Intel and its partners in August 2008.

Keyboard and mouse cables and ports are almost invariably serial—such as PS/2 port, Apple Desktop Bus and USB. The cables that carry digital video are also mostly serial—such as coax cable plugged into a HD-SDI port, a webcam plugged into a USB port or FireWire port , Ethernet cable connecting an IP camera to a Power over Ethernet port, FPD ...
The impedance is 50 ohms + 5 ohms, a 50 ohm Triaxial cable is defined [center conductor is the signal, the other two are shields]. MIL-C-17/134 cable is used for lengths up to 120 meters, MIL-C-17/135 is used for cable lengths up to 300 meters. The connectors are defined by MIL-C-49142 /01 and /02.
