The tribe's reservation is the Grindstone Rancheria, located in Glenn County, California. It was founded in 1907 [2] and covers an area of 120 acres (0.49 km 2) large. Approximately 98 of the tribe's 162 members live on the rancheria. [3] The nearest neighboring community is Elk Creek, situated about 5 miles to the south.
Glenn County split from Colusa County in 1891. It was named for Dr. Hugh J. Glenn, who purchased 8,000 acres (32.4 km 2) in the northeast end of Rancho Jacinto in 1867. He became the largest wheat farmer in the state during his lifetime and a man of great prominence in political and commercial life in California.
