The Parish Church of St Hilary (Welsh: Eglwys Sant Ilar) is a Grade II* listed Anglican church in the village of St Hilary in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. It is one of 11 churches in the Parish of Cowbridge. [1] It became a listed building on 22 February 1963. [2]
The parish became notorious in the 1930s after extreme Protestant agitators broke into the church on 8 August 1932, and removed or destroyed many of the fittings and furnishings that had been installed by the much-loved Father Bernard Walke (vicar of St. Hilary from 1912 to 1936).
St Hilary's Church is in the town of Wallasey, Wirral, Merseyside, England. It consists of a church built in 1858–59 [ 1 ] and the separate tower of a former medieval church. [ 2 ] Both the church and the tower are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as designated Grade II listed buildings .
Notable people from the parish include three former Vicars, the writer Denys Val Baker, and the artist Anne (Annie) Walke (wife of Bernard Walke). The parish is bounded on the north by that of Llanblethian; on the south by Llancarfan, St Mary Church and The Herberts; on the east by Llantrithyd; and on the west by Llandough and Llanblethian. [11] The hamlets of The Garn and Ty-draw lie on the road to Llantrithyd to the east. The River Thaw runs between St Hilary and St. Mary Church. [12]
St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church is a church in Washington, Pennsylvania, USA. It began as a Polish congregation on Henderson Avenue, at the corner of Bruce St and Henderson Avenue (Rt. 18 North) within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The church is now part of the "Saint James and Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Partnership Parishes". [1] [2]
The area surrounding the church is a Marin County protected area, the Old Saint Hilary's Open Space Preserve. The church building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
