The Honda CB750 is an air-cooled, transverse, in-line-four-cylinder-engine motorcycle made by Honda over several generations for year models 1969–2008 with an upright, or standard, riding posture. It is often called the original Universal Japanese Motorcycle (UJM) and also is regarded as the first motorcycle to be called a "superbike".
At the 1978 IFMA in Cologne the new CB 750 was presented as the successor to the CB 750 four for Europe and available for sale later that year. With a new DOHC engine design and numerous other new features it was presented as "what happens when you keep winning races".
Honda claimed the Comstar design combined the strength of a cast wheel but allowed a predetermined level of radial flex like spoked wheels. A review in Cycle magazine called the CBX a "breakthrough for the Japanese motorcycle industry" and praised its design, concept, and performance. [ 14 ]
