July 7 – A MiG-21 Lancer crashed at the Borcea Air Base in Southern Romania. Rather than ejecting, witnesses said the pilot "stayed on board to fly the plane away from the crowd", of which 3,000 were attending the airshow. The pilot, Florin Rotaru, was killed in the crash.
The crash occurred at 1:22 p.m. [6] local time at the Dallas Executive Airport during a Wings Over Dallas air show organized by the Commemorative Air Force, a non-profit organization whose goal is to preserve historic aircraft.
