These geckos are nocturnal; hiding during the day and foraging for insects at night. They can be seen climbing walls of houses and other buildings in search of insects attracted to porch lights, and are immediately recognisable by their characteristic chirping. They grow to a length of between 7.5–15 cm (3–6 in), and live for about 7 years.

The hemipenis is the intromittent organ of Squamata, [4] which is the second largest order of vertebrates with over 9,000 species distributed around the world. White lined geckos usually live between 3-5 years in the wild; however, in captivity with proper care their lifespans drastically increase, including those wild caught. In captivity, they can live twice their wild lifespan at the minimum, with some individuals living 15-20 years with proper care.
