21 February – Sergeant Paul Oram (26) of 14 Intelligence Company and IRA members Henry Hogan (21) and Declan Martin (18) were killed in a shoot-out in Dunloy, County Antrim. Oram and a partner were conducting surveillance on Hogan's house when they were given away by light emanating from a nearby street lamp.
