Silver City is the name of an inholding in Sequoia National Park located at Mile 21 on the 25-mile road to Mineral King. [5] It consists of 58 fee-simple lots, 39 of which have cabins on them, plus a commercial area consisting of a store, restaurant and several rental cabins called the Silver City Mountain Resort. [ 6 ]
Mineral King was used as a summer camping area. Continuing until 1942, private cabins were built in the Mineral King area, expanding the communities of Cabin Cove, Silver City, and Beulah. McIver's Cabin is a popular destination for off-road enthusiasts and serves as a shelter for hikers of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). It is located at about 6690 ft. [ 1 ] near the Kiavah Wilderness , in the Scodie Mountains area of the Sequoia National Forest near the PCT and at the end of the McIver 4X4 road part of forest service road 27S11.
