Leslie West Live! is a live album by Leslie West, released in 1993. [2] The album features a track from West's debut solo album, Mountain, four tracks recorded by Mountain and one by West, Bruce and Laing.
Leslie Abel West (born Weinstein; October 22, 1945 – December 23, 2020) [2] was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was the co-founder, guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the rock band Mountain .
Mountain was an American rock band formed on Long Island, New York, in 1969. [1] [2] Originally consisting of vocalist-guitarist Leslie West, bassist-vocalist Felix Pappalardi, keyboardist Steve Knight, and drummer N. D. Smart (soon replaced by Corky Laing), the group disbanded in 1972, but reunited on several occasions prior to West's death in 2020. [3]
In 2009 West and Laing teamed up with Jack Bruce's son, Malcolm Bruce, and toured as West, Bruce Jr. and Laing. This group was advertised by some venues as a reformation of West, Bruce & Laing, with Malcolm described as "filling in" for his father on the tour. Leslie West died in 2020, leaving Corky Laing as WBL's only surviving member.
In 1988, Bruce teamed up with Mountain guitarist Leslie West, and performed the song again on West's Theme album, which was named after the song. West also performed it on Leslie West Live! and The Howard Stern Show. [3] The song was also covered by English jazz rock band Colosseum on their 1970 album Daughter of Time. [4]
