The emissions control system will institute a filter regeneration which burns off the particulates. Any non-combustible materials found in lubrication additives will remain in the DPF, which can cause problems with back pressure and efficiency. This means the DPF needs to be regularly removed and cleaned for the Cummins ISX.
Initially developed in North America, it was introduced in 1996 as the second generation Volvo Class 8 tractor. For the 2000 model year, the VN was officially renamed VNL. Other models included the VNM (until 2017) and the VNR (from 2017). The "L" in VNL signifies a long bonnet, compared to the medium-bonneted VNM and the regional VNR.
The Cummins ISC also has a sister engine which is designed off the existing ISC 8.3-litre cylinder block which runs on compressed natural gas (CNG). Cummins reintroduced this engine as the C PLUS engine which has a maximum power rating of 280 horsepower (209 kW; 284 PS). A few thousand units of this engine are now roaming in the world operating ...

The Cummins M-series engine is a straight-six diesel engine designed and produced by Cummins. It displaces 10.8 litres (659.1 cu in).Introduced as the M11 in 1994, it was built on the previous L10 engine (same 4.921 inches (125.0 mm) cylinder bore, but a longer 5.787 inches (147.0 mm) piston stroke compared to the L10's 5.354 inches (136.0 mm) stroke).
The 5.9 L Cummins, also known as the "12-Valve" Cummins was the first member of the Cummins B-Series to be used in a light truck vehicle. The 6BT used Bosch fuel systems, injector, and VE rotary pump and P7100 inline injection pumps. Some early 6BTs were supplied with CAV rotary pumps instead, before the Bosch system became the sole standard.
The mechanical fly-weight governors of inline and distributor diesel fuel injection pumps used to control fuel delivery in diesel engines under a variety of engine loads and conditions could no longer deal with the ever-increasing demands for efficiency, emission control, power and fuel consumption. These demands are now primarily fulfilled by ...
The NO x adsorber was designed to avoid the problems that EGR and SCR experienced. An adsorbent such as zeolite traps the NO and NO 2 molecules — acting as a molecular sponge. Once the trap is full (like a sponge full of water) no more NO x can be absorbed. Various schemes have been designed to "purge" or "regenerate" the trap.
