Rhea County Department of Education, also known as Rhea County Schools or Rhea School District, is a school district headquartered in Dayton, Tennessee. [1] It serves students in the county, except for the City of Dayton, for elementary and middle school, as well as high school students throughout the entire county.
In 2013, Rhea County High School celebrated their 40th year since the school was established and Spring City and Rhea Central were brought together to form what is now well known as Rhea County High School. Also in 2013, following the 40th year celebration of the school, was the building of a new addition that spanned to cover 320,000 square feet.
The system operates three elementary schools, two middle schools, two K-8 schools, one high school (Rhea County High School), and one alternative school. The K-8 school, Rhea Central Elementary, is currently the largest K-8 school in Tennessee in terms of number of students.
