Elmore County is a county located in the east central portion of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 87,977. [1] Its county seat is Wetumpka. [2] Its name is in honor of General John A. Elmore. [3] Elmore County is part of the Montgomery, AL Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The East Wetumpka Commercial Historic District, in Wetumpka, Alabama, is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Jasmine Hill Gardens (20 acres) is a botanical garden located on U. S. Route 231 near Wetumpka, Alabama, north of Montgomery. As of May 23, 2020, the garden is permanently closed to the public. [2] Jasmine Hill was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on July 21, 1977. [1]
