The Diocese of Winona–Rochester (Latin: Dioecesis Vinonaënsis-Roffensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory, or diocese, of the Catholic Church in Southern Minnesota in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis .
On March 27, 2018, Pope Francis elevated the church to be the co-cathedral of the newly renamed Diocese of Winona–Rochester. The new designation reflects the economic growth of the city of Rochester and the demographic changes that have occurred since the diocese was founded in 1889. [2]

[11] He is the founder of the Catholic ministerial organization Word on Fire, and was the host of Catholicism, a documentary TV series about Catholicism that aired on PBS.
It became the pro-cathedral when the Diocese of Winona was established in 1889 and its pastor, the Rev. Joseph Cotter, was named the first bishop of Winona. St. Joseph parish was established in 1862 to serve the spiritual needs of Winona's German Catholics. [3]
