Onslow Beach is a 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) stretch of undeveloped beach at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Onslow County, North Carolina, US. It has been used at various times for practice amphibious landings by the U.S. Navy. Presently, it is used as a recreational area by the Camp Lejeune community.
Access to the sites are restricted by the National Park Service and the United States Air Force. [2] [3] A third launching site, is now located on the Coffeen Nature Preserve, a Sierra Club property east of Destin, Florida, featured a concrete inclined launch ramp. Steam-powered and portable ramps were also tested at this site.
After an amphibious assault exercise at Onslow Beach from 8 to 10 March, she continued south to the Caribbean.
