In 1980, the Evening Herald of Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, editorialized on behalf of "Pennsylvania Polka" for state song, calling it "a happy, catchy tune" and "one that's been familiar to generations of people all over the country since it first swept to the top of the popular music charts way back in the early '40s". The song was written and composed by former prison administrator Eddie Khoury [1] and Ronnie Bonner, and serves as the official state song for all public purposes. State Representative Frank L. Oliver introduced the bill for the song, and it was adopted by the Pennsylvanian General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Robert P. Casey on November 29, 1990.
