Leslie Meredith Tsou is an American diplomat who served as the US Ambassador to Oman from January 10, 2020 to March 30, 2023. [1]Immediately prior to this assignment, Tsou served as the first Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem following its opening in May 2018.
A U.S. consulate was maintained in Muscat from 1880 until 1916. Thereafter, U.S. interests in Oman were handled by U.S. diplomats resident in other countries. In 1972, the U.S. ambassador in Kuwait was accredited also as the first U.S. ambassador to Oman, and the U.S. embassy, headed by a resident charge d'affaires, was opened.
