It functions the same as the previous example with the content of the "ordered list without any list items", which itself is an ordered list, expressed with # codes; the HTML produced, and hence the rendering, is the same. This is the simplest method, and recommended when starting a simple list with number 1.
Make an ordered list. The default is a numbered list, but you can change it to a list with roman numbers or letters of the English, Greek, Armenian or Georgian alphabets, instead of the decimal enumerator. For lists of up to 30 items (may increase later) without bullets, use a {} or {{Unbulleted list}} template. Typical uses are in infobox fields, and to replace pseudo-lists of lines separated with <br />. The templates emit the correct HTML markup, and hide the bullets with CSS (see Template:Plainlist § Technical details).
