Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU) is a public state university established in 1997 at Chennai, India by the Government of Tamil Nadu under The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University Act, 1996, which also brought all law colleges in Tamil Nadu under the control of the university.
With a view to upgrading the standards of legal education, B.A.B.L., (Hons) course was initially introduced in the college from the academic year 2002–2003. But the same was shifted to the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University with effect from the academic year 2006–2007.
At the same time, apart from the BCI mandated courses, clinical courses, optional/elective and seminar courses in law, the students are required to complete a minimum number of courses offered to the B.A. LL.B. Honours programme in the same spirit of interdisciplinary study of law like Legal History, Political Science, Economics and Sociology.
