The Glock is a bit of a DA design for roughly the last 20% of cocking the striker. With use or polishing you can clean up the trigger quite a bit but you will still have to compress the striker spring that last little bit, so accept it or move on. On my Gen 4 17s I replaced the trigger bar with a Gen 3 trigger bar and polished up the OEM ...
The Gen 3 was also available in a RTF2 which has even more aggressive grip sides than the Gen 4. (Some love it, some hate it.) A typical Gen 3 will have a “plain” unmarked connector. Glock changed the angle of the connector in the Gen 4 and marked it with a “dot”. It is in between the angle of a “plain” and “minus” connector.
New to glock. Just ordered my first one, an all FDE 17 gen 4. I'm also new to 9mm. What is your recommendation for the best defense round to use in the 17? I will be using it as a home defense handgun as well as conceal carrying it in the winter. I don't know if some rounds are better in a full frame like the 17.
Winchester NATO is what i used 1st in my Gen 4 17...200 rounds worth....then another 2000 or so rounds later (mostly federal champion) i havent had 1 stoppage. Gen 2 G19 (Real Perfection), Gen 4 G19, Gen 4 G17, Gen 4 G26
Since I can go down right now to GT and buy a brand new G17 Gen 5 with the box, backstraps, 3 mags and all the other goodies that come with a new Glock for $398, I would not buy a used (don't know how much) Gen 4 with missing items for $400.
Gen 4 trigger Bar I have a friend with a Gen 4 17. He purchased a replacement trigger bar and a Glock connector and asked me to install it for him. He hand polished the replacement trigger bar and the connector. The trigger bar in his gun was a 3608 stock Gen 4 trigger bar (had the bump).
Gen 4 and gen 5 mags have identical bodies. The longer floor plate on gen 5 fits all guns except the G19X that has that front lip. They all are interchangeable (except for the G19X) Your G45 mags will absolutely work in a gen 4 Glock $499 is a very good price for a refurb Gen 4 G34. I wouldn’t even try to talk them down.
Hello all I have been away from the Glock scene for quite a while so snobs please bear with me. I currently own a 17 Gen 3 but have been looking at the new Gen 5. We all know every gun owner has lots of extra parts and holsters laying around. My question is can guide rods and springs and the such from Gen 3 or Gen 4 be using it Gen 5?
It does not say Gen 4 on the side of the slide. The recoil spring is smaller in diameter than my Gen 4 G17. My Gen 4 has the double recoil spring and my friend's G17 has a smaller single recoil spring. I can't tell if my friend's G17 has the Gen 4 mag release you can move to the right or left side or if his G17 will accept different back straps.
1. Factory Gen 3 and Gen 4 barrels of the same caliber are dimensionally the same with the exception of the crescent shown here. The RSA seats here when installing the slide to the frame. On the left is a Gen 4 barrel, on the right is a Gen 3 barrel. You can clearly see the crescent is different on the Gen 4 in order to accommodate the Gen 4 RSA.
