You can add a table using HTML rather than wiki markup, as described at HTML element#Tables. However, HTML tables are discouraged because wikitables are easier to customize and maintain, as described at manual of style on tables. Also, note that the <thead>, <tbody>, <tfoot>, <colgroup>, and <col> elements are not supported in wikitext.
To add style to the entire table, add the style element to the § Begin-table delimiter line at the top of the table. Note that in some cases, it may be better to use the style encapsulated in one of the predefined classes; see § Class.
Note that using the date formatting feature in section headers complicates section linking, see date formatting. In article titles dates will not be converted. (Several forms of piped links override the date-formatting function.) Links to date ranges in the same calendar month, such as "[[December 13–17]]" or "the night of [[30/31 May]]" cause autoformatting to fail. The autoformatting mechanism will output such dates in a damaged form: 30/May 31, etc.
Do not rely solely on formatting, either from CSS or hard-coded styles, (e.g., background color changes) to convey meaning. Additionally, do not refer to tables in body text as being positioned on the left or right side of a page.
The new 18th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style gives advice about commas in dates in ¶ 6.14. When giving examples they mostly give examples with words after the end of the date so the punctuation at the end of the date is illustrated.
