The Sioux Falls Stampede are a Tier I junior ice hockey team based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Stampede are members of the Western Conference of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The team plays home games at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, the largest facility in capacity and size in the USHL. The team was established in 1999.

The Central Texas Stampede were one of the "original six" teams of the now defunct Western Professional Hockey League. On October 15, 1996 the Stampede defeated the Waco Wizards 5-4 in the first ever WPHL contest. [1] The Stampede had four head coaches during its five year run in the WPHL.

Ruhwedel played at UMass Lowell from 2010 to 2013. He was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team in 2010–11, 2011–12, and 2012–13. Prior to the 2011–12 season the team was the Tulsa Rampage, a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior A ice hockey team, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Stauber played for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 2017 until 2019 when he committed to play for the Minnesota State Mavericks.
